Band
The Kris Pohlmann Band (KPB) was formed by English born Singer Songwriter Kris Pohlmann in the summer of 2005. A bedroom player since the age of 13, Kris only decided to get serious about music after he made the finals of the American Blues Idol “New Blues Talent” competition in 2004. Through word of mouth and advertisements Kris met Daniel Häker, a professional drummer from Wuppertal and American Bass player Warren Richardson living in Düsseldorf. The 3 gelled immediately and the Kris Pohlmann Band was formed.
In order to promote the band and acquire gigs, KPB took the unprecedented step to record a CD having not played a single concert together. The band was so pleased with the recording that it was decided to release the songs as the band’s first album. Entitled “Heavy Pain” the CD was released one year later to rave reviews. A number of tracks from the CD featured on various radio stations both in Germany and as far abroad as the United Status as KPB worked relentlessly on promoting the band.
In December 2006 after just 1 year together and having just played a handful of concerts, KPB won the German Rock & Pop Award as “Best Rhythm & Blues Band”. This prestigious award was presented to the band at a gala ceremony in Duisburg. The competition set up by “Musiker Magazine” and the German Rock & Pop Association is the largest and oldest of its type and was set to recognise the talents of unsigned or independent artists. This accolade proved to be a door opener for the band that spent 2007 playing gigs and festivals throughout Germany, supporting artists such as Eric Gales and Nine Below Zero along the way. 2007 ended with KPB winning another German Rock & Pop award, further cementing the bands reputation as a band one of the best blues rock bands in Germany. In 2008 Elmar Stolley joined KPB on drums, replacing founding member Daniel Häker.
With parallels drawn with the likes of Rory Gallagher, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Healey and SRV the press reviews have been unanimous in their praise for the band.
With Kris Pohlmann’s prolific song writing and charisma as front man, Warren Richardson’s bass virtuosity and Elmar Stolley’s raw rhythmic energy this band has been dubbed:
“One we’ll hear a lot from in the future”
